HAVANA, Cuba - Les Miles is in Cuba, the football team tweeted Tuesday morning. Miles, LSU's head football coach, is in Cuba visiting schools and experiencing the culture. The team Twitter account reported Miles took dozens of soccer balls to distribute to kids in Cuba.
Mikie Mahtook, a former LSU baseball star who now plays for the Tampa Bay Rays, tweeted Miles will watch the Rays play the Cuban National Team. It's the first MLB franchise to play in Havana since 1999, news agencyReuters reported.
The president is also expected to attend the game.
"During a time of historic change, we appreciate the constructive role afforded by our shared passion for the game, and we look forward to experiencing Cuba's storied baseball tradition and the passion of its many loyal fans," Reuters reported MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement.
